Privacy Policy

Effective date: June 2, 2026

Night House LLC ("Night House," "we," "our," or "us") operates the Blink mobile application and the blinksocial.app website (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By using Blink you agree to this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Phone number. We require a phone number to create an account. It is used exclusively for authentication via one-time passcode (OTP) and is never displayed publicly.

Profile information. You may provide a display name, short bio, photos, and optional tags describing your current activity (e.g., "Coffee," "Walk"). You control what you share.

Location data. When you go live, Blink converts your precise GPS coordinates into a coarse zone identifier (a four-character geohash prefix, roughly a 5 km² area) and a human-readable neighborhood name. Only this zone-level data is stored in our database and shown to other users. Your exact coordinates are never written to our servers or shared with other users.

Usage and device data. We collect standard technical information such as device type, operating system version, app version, crash logs, and session timestamps to operate and improve the Service.

Push notification token. If you grant notification permission, we store a Firebase Cloud Messaging token associated with your account to deliver alerts about matches and activity.

Messages. In-app messages between matched users are stored to deliver the conversation. We do not read, sell, or use message content for advertising.

Waitlist data. If you sign up on our website waitlist, we collect your name, email address, and any optional information you provide. This is used only to notify you of launch updates.

2. Phone Number Authentication

Blink uses Firebase Authentication (Google LLC) to verify phone numbers through SMS one-time passcodes. Firebase may collect limited device and network signals to detect abuse. Your phone number is never sold and is not used for marketing. You may delete your account and associated phone number at any time from the Profile settings screen.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and authenticate your account.
  • To show you other live users in your proximity zone and enable matching and in-app messaging.
  • To deliver push notifications about matches, messages, and activity relevant to your session.
  • To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, spam, and violations of our Terms of Service.
  • To diagnose crashes, fix bugs, and improve the performance and reliability of the Service.
  • To communicate with you about your account, security events, or material changes to these policies.

We do not use your data to serve third-party advertising. We do not sell or rent personal information to third parties.

4. Firebase and Third-Party Services

Blink is built on Google Firebase, which provides authentication, database (Firestore), cloud storage, and push messaging infrastructure. Firebase processes data on our behalf under Google's data processing terms. For more information, see Firebase Privacy and Security.

We do not integrate advertising SDKs, data brokers, or analytics platforms that profile users for marketing purposes.

5. Location Privacy

Location access is optional and user-initiated. Blink requests location permission only when you tap "Go Live." You can revoke location permission at any time in your device's Settings app. Revoking location permission disables proximity features but does not affect your account or messages.

Your visibility is entirely under your control. Going live is a deliberate action with a defined time window. When your live session ends, your zone information is removed from the active-user index. We do not maintain a continuous location history.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell personal information. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:

  • With other users: Your display name, profile photo, activity tags, and coarse zone are shown to nearby live users when you are live. Your phone number is never shared.
  • Service providers: Google Firebase (infrastructure), Vercel (website hosting). These providers process data solely to deliver the Service.
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Night House, our users, or the public.
  • Business transfers: If Night House is acquired or merges, user data may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to the same privacy protections.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. Live-session zone data is purged when a session ends. Messages between users are retained until either party deletes the conversation or their account. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time (see Section 8).

8. Your Rights and Choices

You may at any time:

  • Access or update your profile information in the app.
  • Delete your account from Profile → Settings → Delete Account. Deletion removes your profile, messages, and zone history within 30 days.
  • Revoke location permission from your device Settings app.
  • Opt out of push notifications from device Settings.
  • Request a copy of your data or ask questions about our data practices by emailing hello@blinksocial.app.

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know, delete, and opt out of sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.

9. Children's Privacy

Blink is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us at hello@blinksocial.app and we will delete the account promptly.

10. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (TLS), Firebase security rules that restrict database access to authenticated users, and server-side validation on all API endpoints. No system is perfectly secure; please safeguard your phone and do not share OTP codes with anyone.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new policy with an updated effective date and, where appropriate, by in-app notification. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
